Beautiful book, perfect for 18 months +

This has become my 18 month olds favorite bed time book (he was not fond of it at 12 months - I don't think he was ready for it then because he didn't understand most of the words then). The illustrations are beautiful (the artist has an excellent sense of composition), the words are loving, and it's so soothing to read it makes my husband and I sleepy as well. I like having the side by side translation. My toddler speaks English at home and Spanish at daycare. I hadn't spoken much Spanish around him because my Spanish grammar is poor, but once I started reading the book to him in Spanish he realized that mommy understands the language he speaks at daycare and the very next day he started asking for things from me in Spanish.

Infant loved it on sight

Translations great, contrasting colors and larger illustrations beautiful. Helpful notes in corner so you know what animal and its young are called, so you can make it simple for infants like mine with limited attention span. 9 mo old baby got super happy as soon as she saw it and even sat through most pages at first. Grateful for the thick board pages meant to last because can see it will be used for a while in slightly different ways, great for bedtime. Much better than expected quality for the price. Wonderful for bilingual family.

a sweet book. the spanish doesn't exactly follow the english

a sweet book. the spanish doesn't exactly follow the english, but it's still cute. we have the full book (just english) and this board-book version seemed to cut off part of the pictures. it's fine, but the full size book's illustrations are so gorgeous that it's a shame they weren't fully included.
