Another fraking hit here!!

Who knew that what started as a minor accident could change your life forever?
Growing up, Katie wasn't always the nicest person. What she did, she did for a reason. When her parents divorced, she realized that love doesn't really exist, and sooner or later, all couples separate because one will hurt the other. That wasn't happening to her - she would keep her heart closed off and no one would be able to hurt her.
Flash forward 10 years, and Katie is still keeping people at bay, and getting worried about Hunter and Sera. They can't really be in love, and who's going to help Sera when Hunter breaks up with her, or vice versa?
Enter, the accident. When Katie accidentally hits a guy with her car, her whole life is turned upside down. Enter Dean ("His name is Dean?" "Would you like me to find you a Sam so you can have the complete set?"). He's gorgeous, a Viking by her standards, and Thor-like according to Sera. Katie wants to have him just for right now - until she realizes why he looks so familiar.
Adorable story, CM Kars never disappoints. Though Katie can be harsh from time to time, you understand her enough to know that there is a reason for everything she's done. I would recommend this to any of my friends and cannot wait for more!!

I really think the author is very talented and I loved the first book Never Been Kissed

My review may continue info that some folks would deem "spoiler worthy". Consider yourself warned...
It pains me to do this, but I literally just spent most of my time reading this book and just pressing the forward button on my kindle because I wanted to be done with it. I really think the author is very talented and I loved the first book Never Been Kissed: A Never Been Novel, but in this follow up to the first book her character Katie is very unlikeable. I read 46% of the book (so said my kindle anyway) and I literally could not believe Katie was the same Katie from Never Been Kissed: A Never Been Novel. I can understand how her background would make her ridiculously guarded and defensive, but after awhile I really began wondering why her best friend, Sera, or the the hero, Dean, would continue to be in relationship with this person. I don't know, perhaps when I read a book, even if the character is messed up (i.e. still struggling with childhood trauma, issues, etc.) I still like the idea of that person being a good person at heart. Heck, I've read tons of books where the villain is complicated, harsh but there's still something very likeable about the villain. I cannot say the same for Katie. She comes off pretty one dimensional. She literally is a mean girl who says really mean things but we are expected to believe that deep down she's the really wounded person that people should feel sorry for because of her horrible childhood. I really wanted to feel sorry for Katie but she was SOOOO unlikeable. She was always cursing (and I don't mind cursing, but I began to wonder where she received her education if the only words she knew how to use were curse words), she was a witch to the hero (which makes you wonder if he has real emotional issues if he allows someone to treat him the way she did...I mean she's supposed to be the person making it up to him and she treats him like he's garbage...well, garbage she wants to screw), and she hated on her bestie's relationship by attempting to break them up (of course this after in the first book she works to help her bestie and her hero get together...this seems unbelievable). I would totally recommend the authors first book Never Been Kissed, but I can't recommend this book unless you like heroines that are really unlikeable.

Fantastic author...good sequel

Finding C.M. Kars is like finding a gold coin on the beach before the crowd has gathered. Never Been Kissed is one of my favorite books.
This sequel is a good second effort on her part. She took a huge risk making the female lead (K/Katie/Katarina) very unlikeable (i.e., a total bitch) through much of the book and an even huger risk making her a bad friend to Sera (beloved heroine from book 1). Dean was a fantastic book boyfriend, completely smoldering hot, sweet and a talented chef. I liked the trope of first loves reconnecting after heartbreak and many years apart. I thought K/Katie/Katarina's redemption happened a little suddenly to wrap up the story. It didn't feel like she earned this redemption in the eyes of Sera and Dean (particularly after learning what Sera went through while Katie froze her out). What bummed me about Dean is that he was the same type of nerd as Sera (sci fi and comics/same verbal nerd flair). I was hoping he'd be a chemist or a computer programmer just to differentiate from Sera....I imagine the author still has Sera's voice in her head...hope she will use this to write for Sera again.
I wish she had focused this sequel on Sera and McLaine, as they experienced multiple major life events during this book that were only touched upon. For the first major life event, we don't even know how McLaine reacted. It could have been very bad considering his diabetes and their financial limitations. I hope Ms. Kars will still write this book. There are other authors (e.g., Ritchie sisters, Addicted/Calloway Sisters series) that have multiple books from the same time period told from different characters' point of view.
