Dayum, this was hot. Love me some Leslie North and I have happily read all of her kindle books. I love the recipe she has for a great book; hot man, unsuspecting girl, lure of sex and some sort of incident to throw all of the ingredients together!

The ending was amazing! Not until the last few moments reading was I really, really sure we were going to get a happy ending! In fact, it was happy endings all around, and some new beginnings as well. There is enough untold story still waiting for us, so Ms. North should be more than busy preparing to tell us all about it. Erin and Kam - pardon me, His Majesty! - are married at last, and more weddings and love affairs are popping up like wildflowers in the Spring! And Sloan and his soldiers are keeping them all safe and adding so much to the stories. I can't wait to find out what's happening next.

The story lines were great but I thought the books were too short

The story lines were great but I thought the books were too short. They was a lot of males running around in this series. Ms North should have continued the series. The ending of book 3 says that there should be a book 4. If you are not currently writing additional book in the series then the ending in book 3 was a huge disappointment.

Andy is a good writer, his book has helped me to understand how to get through teen life. I highly recommend this book to skateboarders and non

Awesome

Although Andy Schrock doesn't have the best writing abilities, the story is interesting and keeps me reading. The plot is very relatable, which makes it much more fun to read. Four chapters in after about 45 minutes. Continuing to read after I finish this review!

This book is going to be my Bible

I started watching Andy Schrock's YouTube videos about two and a half years ago, a little while after I started skating. Back then, he was working two jobs, tired, and seemingly miserable. In the time I've been watching, he's started his very own skateboard company, gotten a fiance, had a kid, and published this book. I'm on a perpetual quest to support whatever he does, so I naturally bought it. After having finished it today, I can honestly say this book is the single most relatable thing I have ever read. It's essentially autobiographical, but with obvious necessary dramatization. A large part of it revolves around coping with everyone around you changing, doing drugs, and "growing up" while you remain essentially the same, and sort of cling to your innocence and individuality. His only constant in life is his skateboarding. I think anybody that ever went through being a teenager has something to relate to it, but for a skateboarder, especially a dedicated, obsessive one, as I consider myself to be, it literally feels like I'm reading about myself. Just the thought of somebody else going through so many of the same experiences as me is absolutely therapeutic, and this is now my favorite book that I have ever read. Andy Schrock just made a lifelong supporter out of me.

Coming upon this book in rather a skeptical state of mind, I must say I found it intriguing, enlightening, brilliant, witty, and exasperating as it pursued its thesis with a species of grammatical acrobatics that I can only call arresting. This is a book about the ideologies of modern architecture, their philosophical origins, their manifestations, and the ways in which they are flawed. It is a book about architects who had and have conceptions about the ideal city, and it tries to reorient those conceptions from the utopia of a single vision to a more multivalent view of city form.

Difficult, opaque, frustrating, but important

I am a second-generation Rowe disciple, I guess. I studied with a Rowe acolyte in graduate school and worked with co-author Fred Koetter in an urban design studio. Without the efforts these teachers have made to bring Rowe's ideas to urban design students, they may well have been neglected, because Collage City is a mess. It is badly marred by dense thickets of poorly-edited, idiosyncratic prose. It was one of the more frustrating books I had to read in school, but I'm glad it was required, because the close readings uncovered real gems of theory. Rowe reintroduced the complexities and possibilities of art into urban design right at the peak of Modernism's influence. Architecture was still in the thrall of La Ville Radieuse and socialist-utopian projects that aimed to simplify and disinfect cities. Jane Jacobs saw the social perils of these projects, Colin Rowe saw the architectural perils. His critique of the Modern project was among the most powerful, and among the least cogent. Still, though it requires some serious digging in prose-mud, the gems are there and worth the search. I recommend this book for graduate-level urban theorists or serious urban design students.

But there are more accessible urban design primers: Aldo Rossi, et al, The Architecture of the City, for example, covers much of the same ground Rowe so spottily tilled [except where Eisenman is involved in the book: he is a worse prose-stylist than Rowe]. For non-specialists I also recommend Witold Rybczynski's City Life as a thoughtful and LUCID introduction to American urbanism, along with a critique of the last few decades of urban "development".

About the Author
Jim Bigelow, Ph.D., has led a diverse professional life as a professor, therapist, clergyman and author. He earned his doctorate in psychology at Claremont Graduate School and served as a Professor of Psychology at Whittier College. He has also lectured abroad extensively and pastored several Evangelical churches. Jim founded UNCIRC and has served on the board of directors for NORM. He is the father of two grown children and lives with his wife in California.

The scandal of circumcision & how to regrow the foreskin.

The shocking story of male circumcision, a must-read for every man, expectant couple, pregnant woman, and anyone contemplating circumcising their boy, either as an infant or at an older age. Discusses alternatives to full circumcision for medical conditions (phimosis, tight foreskin) and details the loss of sensation and other important functions of the foreskin. Opened my eyes to the reality of regrowing my own prepuce. I have regrown about 1/2 inch and regained some lost sensation using the do-it-yourself techniques in this excellent book.

Excellent and thought-provoking!

The authors present the unvarnished truth about one of America's ugliest human rights abuses, infant circumcision. They also describe how circumcised men can to some extent recover what was taken from them. Particularly helpful: This thoroughly researched book includes well-written explanations, and an excellent indexes of resources and references. The author's description of the historical development of the practice of circumcision is both enlightening and shocking.

This is a Great Book!

Dr. Bigelow is able to succinctly reveal why circumcision is a hoax perpetuated on the American people. He also tells why the foreskin is an important, functional part of male anatomy. What sets this book apart, however, are the personal comments throughout it that really show how men in this country have been victimized by the medical profession and society. It's time to save our sons from the same abuse that the majority of American Men have endured. Our sons deserve to grow up intact just as much as our daughters do. There is no medical reason for circumcision. America is the only industrialized nation that still routinely circumcises, yet just about every aliment attributed to having a foreskin is lower or no higher in all of the industrialized countries that don't circumcise. For example, America has one of the highest HIV rates in the industrialized world. Circumcision has done nothing to stem the tide of HIV infection in this country. In fact, some studies show that circumcised men are at greater risk of contracting HIV. And, since the circumcised penis becomes keratinized and rough, it's probable that they are at greater risk for infecting others.
Dr. Bigelow's book is wonderful both in its factual documentation of circumcision and in its personalization of the horror of circumcision. It's a must read for every man that has been circumcised, to realize what he's lost, and for every man that has not been circumcised, to realize how lucky he is. It is also a must read for women. It will help them to understand the hurt that most men in this country have suffered at the hands of the medical establishment and society. It will also help them to realize how lucky they are if they are fortunate enough to have an uncircumcised lover. Just a thought; the crime rate in this country increased almost lock-step with the circumcision rate. Now the circumcision rate is going down and so is the crime rate. I wonder if it's just a coincidence, or if crime is some how related to the violence most males experience just after birth.

About the Author
Prof. Ron Meyer is Professor of Corporate Strategy at TiasNimbas Business School, Tilburg University. Ron studied Political Science at the University of Alberta in his native Canada. After receiving his bachelor's degree he moved to the Netherlands and got his MBA and PhD at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. From 1987 to 1998 he was a professor of strategic management at the Rotterdam School of Management / Erasmus Graduate School of Management. During this period he taught strategy in 15 countries, at universities and in companies, and acted as consultant to a wide variety of firms. For two years he was also Associate Director of RSM, in charge of managing the MBA Program. Since 1998, at the Center for Strategy & Leadership and its predecessors, Ron has combined boardroom consultancy work with in-company trainings and applied management research. As consultant he works with many top international companies on such topics as corporate strategy, business innovation, strategic alliances and strategies for growth. As trainer he has given seminars and training courses to hundreds of companies around the world and lectured at more than 30 universities. He has (co-)authored numerous articles and books, among which the internationally leading textbook on strategic management, Strategy - Process, Content, Context: An International Perspective. Over 250.000 copies have been sold so far and the book is used at more than 200 business schools around the world. In 2005 the 2nd edition was published of Strategy Synthesis: Resolving Strategy Paradoxes to Create Competitive Advantage, while his latest book, Mapping the Mind of the Strategist, was published in 2007. Bob de Wit is director of the Strategy Academy, an international research and educational institution focusing on strategy, leadership and business innovation issues (www.strategy-academy.org). He is also managing director of Strategy Works, an international strategy consulting and coaching firm that facilitates boardroom decision-making and guides companies through processes of strategic renewal (www.strategy-works.com). Bob has a BA in Psychology from the University of Utrecht, an MBA from the Delft University of Technology and a Ph.D. in management from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. From 1985 to 1996 he was a professor of strategic management at the Rotterdam School of Management. Since 1996 he has held a chair in Strategy at the Maastricht School of Management, where he also served as the Associate Dean for research from 1997 and 2001.
