I enjoy seeing growth in characters

Lost is the second book following the characters of Bethany and Sir Caldry, and it picks up immediately following Torn, the first Dothan book. In this story, all Bethany wants to do is get home to her family and is driven to do whatever it takes to make that happen. Forced to rely on her former abuser, each day away from King Wolfric is fraught with new physical and psychological perils. I enjoy seeing growth in characters, and both Bethany and Sir Caldry's personalities evolve and deepen as the story progresses. This is my favorite of Ms. Dufour's novels.

Like it's prequel

"Lost" picks up right where "Torn" left off. Like it's prequel, "Lost" brings you into a world full of peril, betrayal, loyalty, and friendship. You follow the journey of Bethany and Erin as they attempt to return Bethany home. You watch them as they attempt to figure out their unorthodox partnership and find a way to survive. You are left with a twist at the end that leaves you wanting to turn the page to find out what in the world is going on and what is going to happen next.

About The Author

Reginald Massey has studied the history, culture, music, dance and film of the Indian subcontinent for many years and has written on these subjects for leading international publications. He has written the Asian dance section for The Encyclopaedia of Dance and Ballet and the Indian music entry for Everyman’s Encyclopaedia. He is a critic for The Dancing Times of London and The Dances of India and The Music of India, which he and his wife Jamila Massey have co-authored, are standard works.

His other titles include The Splintered Mirror, All India, Indian-Dances: Their History and Growth, Asian Dance in Britain, The Immigrants and Lament of a Lost Hero and Other Poems which was awarded the Michael Madhusudan Dutt Literary Prize. He wrote and produced Bangladesh I Love You, a film which starred the boxing phenomenon Muhammad AH. In October 1996, his research paper on Kathak was presented as the keynote address before the All Pakistan Music Conference in Lahore.

Of Indian origin, Reginald Massey was born in Lahore in 1932 and now lives in Wales. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

As a student of kathak, this book was recommended to me by my guru in the U.S.A, before I was to speak about my perspectives on indian classical dance and kathak at a multi cultural event. The book did a good job on reiterating things I had learnt as a child from my guru in India. The contents seemed well researched and managed to give a diverse perspective without being redundant on any particular topic. I would certainly recommend this book for anyone that would like to learn more about Indian dance history, particularly Kathak. The language is clear and lucid and does not read as an academic compilation, making it desirable for the average, non-academic reader, and even for those that do not practice the form.

This is a very exciting book. It has an excellent introduction which locates postcolonial theory. The intersection between politics and post-colonial theory is the first such application and as Ashcroft suggests on the back cover it is truly ground breaking. The book traces the issues of identity and politics and highlights the major issues which are of concern to African studies, negritude, decolonisation, the state, civil society , human rights and globalisation. Perhaps the most interesting chapter is the chapter on citizenship. I would highly recomend this book. It is not only useful to undergraduates but will be provocative for the more advanced reader.

Jamie Oliver started cooking at his parents' pub, the Cricketers, in Clavering, Essex, at the age of eight, and has gone on to work with some of the world's top chefs. He founded Fifteen restaurant in London and the associated charity, Fifteen Foundation, which continues to train disadvantaged young people to become chefs. There are now three other Fifteen restaurants in the world: Cornwall, Amsterdam and Melbourne. Jamie has also launched a chain of high street restaurants in the UK called Jamie's Italian. In 2005 Jamie led a campaign to improve the quality of school dinners in the UK and, through the Feed Me Better movement, caused the government to substantially change its policy towards school food. Unlikely American Cookbook

I received this as a present and I absolutely LOVE it! It's such an unlikely collection of American foods. Important to note that, at least my version, is in metric cooking units and not American as this was a cookbook made for other countries to experience American foods. I love Jamie's stories about the places he visits and the art in the cookbook really make it stand out. I've already made a few recipes as well and they are delicious!

I was shocked to see how few stars this has, but then noticed most of the bad reviews are about order problems rather than the book! Let me put in my five stars vote. The stories in here are great, the photos are wonderful, and the recipes look awesome. He does a good coverage of different parts of the U.S., and I thought the section on the Navajo was particularly interesting and inspiring. Don't hesitate -- it's great.

We've been spoiled by Jamie's Food Revolution cookbook here at the house. So, when I saw Jamie's America, I paged through it, and then immediately ran to the cashier to buy it. I feel that this book actually has more volume as far as storytelling and gorgeous photography than the Food Revolution. While some folks may turn up their nose at what could be considered filler, I found the it only added to the experience of reading, and cooking from this book. To me, the difference between Food Revolution and Jamie's America is simple: one is more of a traditional style cookbook, while Jamie's America focuses on the journey across the US to discover the quintessential recipes (with Jamie's touch) that define each region.

Jamie's America covers from the West to East Coast, and everything in between. Thus far, we've made two recipes out of the book (we've only had it a week) and they were both delicious and relatively easy to make (though we do consider ourselves intermediate to expert level cooks for a household of four). I think what I most appreciated about this book was the diversity of recipes. From delicious Dan Dan Noodles to traditional Navajo breakfasts, you'll find a wide spectrum of dishes.

From an aesthetic perspective, the book is well bound and designed, grouping recipes together by location rather than dish, and sprinkled with lots of love and charm that make Jamie one of our favorite cooks of all time.

If you loved Food Revolution, this is definitely a great addition.
